Edirne is located in the Marmara Region, in northwestern Turkey. The city is surrounded by the Istanca Mountains in the north and mountains, plateaus and Meric Delta in the south. The Ergene Basin is also located in the center of the region. The city is bounded by the Aegean Sea and Çanakkale to the south, Bulgaria to the north, Greece to the west, Tekirdağ and Kırklareli to the east. Meriç River is the border between Greece and Turkey.
