The city park adjacent to Taksim Square is at the central point of Beyoğlu district, which runs along a hilly area on the banks of Istanbul's Golden Horn. It is between Cumhuriyet Street and Mete Street. It is a kind of escape point from Taksim's heavy human traffic in the middle of many touristic hotels.
Taksim Gezi Park, which was built in 1940 on a total area of 38 thousand square meters, stands out as being the first park officially built in Istanbul during the Republican period. It became an important center of attraction with its marble stairs, sea-facing seating groups, lawn areas, peaceful environment, and benches. After the demolition of the barracks that were built during the Ottoman period and the construction of hotels around it, the green area also began to shrink. However, it never lost its importance. Between 1991 and 1992, a rather flamboyant pool was made in the park and underwent an extensive revision in all aspects.
Finally, Taksim Gezi Park was restructured within the scope of Public Pedestrization of Taksim Project and it attracts interest with its central location, green areas, well maintained and regular arrangement, especially in the summer months it is highly attractive for people with modern cafes and social hardware.
