Şırata Lakes

Şavşat, the district of Artvin with its natural and cultural richness, invites you to Şırata Lakes, which are among the indispensable stopovers of the little known but knowledgeable people. Turning the region into a natural touristic area, these lakes guarantee insatiability with their beauty. You come to Şırata Lakes by passing through Pınarlı Village on the borders of the district. On the way to the lakes located on the skirts of Arsiyan Mountain, colorful flowers dancing with the wind around can be seen. Şırata means "cheese water" in Georgian language. The local people gave this very different name to the lake, referring to its turquoise color. It should be noted that the lake cannot accommodate its visitors every day of the year. Because it is formed by the melting of snow waters. Therefore, every month of the year is not alive, some months remain in a drained state. But it promises a unique visuality while the lake waters fill and overflow in its bed. There is also a fee for entrance to the lake and a small number of social facilities. The lake, which can be reached on foot, is also known for its angut birds that can be seen frequently in the region. Şırata Lakes in Artvin can be chosen to spend a few enjoyable hours.
