It is shown among the symbol structures of the Karaağaç region. Although it is a monument in Lausanne, it also has a museum section. The Trakya University's important efforts are found in the formation of the Lausanne Monument and Museum. This area also includes the campus building. The Lausanne monument represents a kind of World Peace. In the museum, many of the Lausanne and Ismet Inönü documents are exhibited and are of great interest. Both this monument and the museum are seen as an exciting place, especially for those keen on recent history.
The Lausanne Monument and Museum, located in the historic Karaağaç district, are the structures that cemented the diplomatic victory. School trips are aimed especially at visiting the area by the students as a community and at raising awareness. The Lausanne peace treaty has a very important meaning not only for Edirne but also for the Republic of Turkey. Karaağaç is also taken back as a result of this agreement. The region was subject to Greek occupation between 1920 and 1923. As war reparations, Karaağaç is given back to the Turks. In order to keep the memory of all these achievements alive, the Lausanne monument was built.
The first foundations of the Lausanne Monument and Museum were laid in March 1998. It was inaugurated in July of the same year. Suleyman Demirel, who was the president of that time, carried out this inauguration himself. The monument consists of three high columns in total. It effectively reflects the spirit of victory with its glorious image. The height of the first column is 36 meters, the height of the second column is 31 meters, and the height of the last column is 17 meters.
The concrete circle and the dove standing in the girl's hand have separate meanings. It is possible to visit the museum immediately next to the monument every day of the week. This place is one of the most popular places in Edirne in recent years.
