Yanartaş, one of the most important natural richness not only in Antalya but also in all of Turkey, is located within the borders of Çıralı, about 55 kilometers south of Antalya city center. Yanartaş, where the people coming from the direction of Antalya – Kumluca can easily reach Ulupınar village by entering the turn, is briefly called ‘Yanar’ by the people of the region. The source of this natural formation, which is named Yanartaş due to the rocks believed to have been burned for centuries and never extinguished until this time, is methane gas. The rocks burned by methane gas seeping upwards from the ground are attracting people from all over the world. Yanartaş, which has become a center of attraction due to its interesting geological formation, is of course of great importance for Greek mythology as it is located in the ancient city of Olympus. There is also a mythological view and belief that Yanartas was used to ignite the torch after Zeus ' son Heracles came first in the contest. According to geologist Giuseppe of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Rome, the element ruthenium beneath the surface of the volcano essentially acts as a catalyst for methane gas. From this idea, it is understood that Ruthenium is the source of the methane gas. Evliya Çelebi even gave an opinion about Yanartaş, where different views are presented and which is the subject of interesting legends. Yanartaş, which can be visited in four seasons, offers stunning views no matter what period of the year. Although there is no facility on the hill where Yanartaş is located, you can spend unforgettable minutes in the lap of nature. If you want to stay close to here, you can choose hotels or hostels with bungalows in Çıralı.
