Ancient City of Selge

There is no doubt that Antalya, the Pearl of the Mediterranean, is full of history... Numerous archaeological monuments, cities, ports and structures that have survived from the Roman period in the region, which has been the scene of civilizations for centuries due to factors such as climate and geographical location, retain their existence even today. One of them is the ancient city of Selge, which is 250 meters high, which takes 1.5 hours to turn off the Antalya-Alanya Highway.
The partially standing fortifications from the entrance of the ancient Roman settlement in the northern part of the Taurus Mountains bear traces of two temples dedicated to Zeus and Artemis.Among the ruins of the ancient city, there are the large bazaar place, cemetery and monumental fountain building and a church built in Byzantine times after centuries of Rome. With the other section as ruins, a long street with a colonnaded entrance in the southeastern part of the historic city, a bathhouse and the ruins of an agora fill the eye.
Again, some of the 9 thousand-person theater ruins, which are similar to Horseshoe, can be seen even today. The ruins of the stadium are also encountered near the theatre. Here, it is possible to see the traces of the living places.
With its traces from the depths of history, the ancient city of Selge is one of the most photographed places in Antalya, where cultural tourism enthusiasts often visit.
