We are in The Hafiziye Neighborhood of Van... If you are in this city, it attracts you with its 453-year history, The Husrev Pasha Madrasah. Although it is not known exactly who built the work, it is estimated that it is Köse Husrev Pasha, which is mentioned in the ottoman registry records.
Pasha is martyred during the Iranian Campaign. What is known about him is about it and it is thought that Köse Husrev Pasha reached the Palace's Chief Architect Sinan Agha for the construction of madrasas.
When you look at the tomb and mosque around the madrasa, it is difficult to say that it’s made by Mimar Sinan because we don’t see his flamboyant taste here. Sinan's works are written on the lists but this one’s name can onlybe found in tuhfetü'l-mi'marin, making things more difficult to identify. It is a belief that the master architect sends one of his foremen to Van for madrasa while building muradiye mosque in Manisa.
It is not known whether madrasah Is Koca Mimar Sinan Aga’s or not, but it is certain that it i
s one of the important examples of the classical Ottoman architectural era.
