The house where the famous poet who died on August 12, 1999, lived in his last 10 years and his tomb next to him are among the places visited frequently by his lovers today. Can Yücel's House is located in a small neighborhood called Old Datca of Datça district in Mugla. Other than the anniversary of his death, it cannot be entered into it, and on other days it can be photographed through its door or seen from outside.
Yucel, who has worked as a translator as well as his poems, is also one of the most famous names in the recent history of Turkish literature. Buried in the garden of his house, the famous poet, almost every period of the year is visited by lovers.
The door of the house contains poems about the memory of Can Yücel, who has signed many poems such as ‘are we offended or not’, ‘the Constitution of Man’, ‘Something Else’, ‘holding hands’, ‘interpreter of myself’ and many more, while some documents containing details about his life are kept in the shelves for visitors to examine.
The house, which can be entered every day of the year prior to 2011, has never lost its spiritual atmosphere, although it has been closed to visitors following a number of distressing events on this date. The House of Can Yücel, which welcomes guests from almost all walks of life from 7 to 77 who are fond of Turkish literature, is also filled with strings of pure and sincere love, giving each visitor full of emotion.
