Maker of Yarn Mosque, known as one of the most beautiful examples of Seljuk architecture, is among the works that have managed to survive since 1201.
Maker of Yarn Mosque is located in the center of the city, just east of Aladdin Hill. Necibüddin Ayaz, who played a major role in the construction of the work, is also considered the architect of the mosque. It is learnedt the information from book of Altunapa Madrasah, which cannot be reached today but is known to exist from the history pages, the mosque, which takes its name from the bazaar of yarns right next to it. The mosque, which was first called Yarlikciler Mosque, was eventually referred to as Maker of Yarn Mosque.
The entrance of the brick-built work with the rectangular plan remains in the pit due to the pavements rising with asphalt works that take place over time. The two balcony minarets remaining in the east direction are added to the structure quite later. This magnificent structure, built by Abul Fazl Abdulcebbar of Tabriz, also has a very important place in terms of Konya religious tourism.
Maker of Yarn Mosque was renovated in 1333 by Elhac Abubekir bin Mesud, also known as The Baker. In 1431, Turgut's son Abul Fazl Ahmed Bey helped him to repair the interior and outside the mosque. Maker of Yarn Mosque, which is not allowed to succumb to time and is an indicator of respect for the past, was finally re-repaired by Haji Emrullah towards the end of the 16th century.
