There are many squares identified with Izmir, one of Turkey's densely populated cities. One of the most important is undoubtedly Gündoğdu Square. The Square, which was acquired in 1999 by filling the cordon on the seafront with breathtaking views, is located in the Alsancak district of Konak district, which is hit by the influx of tourists during the summer months.
The vast and relatively new square between the city's central locations is both a meeting point for anyone of all ages and a central entourage of different types of events.
Gündoğdu Square is also famous for its concerts, especially in spring and summer. It hosts a large number of artists each year with sea views.
It also welcomes large groups, especially with its rallies held during election periods. It is also preferred as a post-election celebration area.
Again, during certain periods of the year, the city's sine qua non Gündoğdu Square also bears witness to the interesting celebrations.
The square also features a modern sculpture. The statue, called The Republic Tree, is one of the items that adds value to the square's skyline.
