Beyoğlu district of Istanbul hosts the most special places not only of the city but also of all of Turkey. In this sense, the Aleppo Passage, one of the symbolic structures of Beyoğlu, attracts great attention from local and foreign visitors throughout the year. Reflecting the spirit and unique atmosphere of Beyoğlu, this passage attracts at least as much attention as Aleppo Passage, Atlas Passage or Terkos Passage. Aleppo Passage is located directly opposite Atlas Passage. Intense crowds, almost attacking the street, definitely show interest in the passage.
The most important aspect that makes Aleppo Passage so special is the historical cinema it contains. Due to the existence of Beyoğlu Cinema, this place is also referred to as Beyoğlu Passage in some sources. When you enter the Aleppo Passage for the first time, silver shops welcome you. Along with these shops, CD shops add an important color to the entrance. When you move a little further, you will come across t-shirt makers, tattoo artists and poster makers making special prints. It is possible to encounter the most beautiful movie posters here. This is not necessarily a place visited with the logic of shopping. Very interesting places and pubs that you can explore on the lower and upper floors of the passage will give you great pleasure. The pubs on the upper floor are especially frequent. Aleppo Passage is one of the oldest and most vibrant passages of the Taksim area.
The passage, which is seen as a kind of cultural meeting point due to its location on Istiklal Street, dates back to ancient times. In written sources, there is information that the passage was built in 1885. This and similar information is written on the door facing towards the street section. According to rumors, the name of the passage was determined in this way because it was built by someone whose surname was Aleppo at that time. Aleppo Passage also has an important place for Ortaoyunu theater companies.
