Seljuk style architecture style in different periods over the years with additional constructions in the Grand Mosque, which reaches its present form, has two shrines, fountains, hash house and shops in its adjacent complex.
Although the date of construction of the mosque has not been reached definitively, the oldest known data is the date of 1271 in the inscription in the minaret. After 1849, which is known to belong to the period of Memluk Sultan Baybars I,the mosque Kebir and the adjacent summer mosque were repaired. The complex was last repaired by the General Directorate of Foundations in 2002.
The interior of the Grand Mosque, the oldest and largest of Antakya mosques, is quite simply furnished. On the wall of the mosque, where the very precious carpets are located, the verses written in gold letters stand out. The courtyard is spacious, stone paved and has shaded fountain. The mosque has a rectangular plan, with cutting stone material in its vaulted and flat roofed structure.
