Weaving Park

Weaving Park, which imprints the weaving sector in Turkey with its production potential, is seen as one of the most important production centers of the 1950s. The famous yarn and cotton weaving factory in Antalya, especially after the 1950s, has almost made its mark with its production potential. This very special factory, whose foundations were laid by Adnan Menderes, the prime minister of that time, has always meant a great deal to the city. It is established to be the solution to rising unemployment at that time and it is very good feedback from this idea. The factory plays a very serious role in the processing of cotton. The factory manages to capture a capital of around 6 million in a short period of time. Antalya yarn and cotton weaving factory also produces military uniforms. In those years, the factory was transformed into a bread and butter for many people, especially from Antalya and the surrounding provinces. The factory, which has been on a terrific rise since it adopted the continuous production model, experienced a sharp decline in the following years. In 2003, the shutters were closed after the factory management announced that they lost money. After these negative events, the privatization administration will put the factory up for sale soon. Since no buyer can be found, the land is transferred to the municipality of Kepez. Not much work is carried out on the site until 2009, but with the changing local governments, the fate of the weaving factory begins to change in an instant. Firstly, the name of the factory is changed to Weaving Park. The historic factory is transformed without ever damaging its original texture. Then the area turns into a large complex with green fields, sports fields and various cafes. The historic factory, which rose from the ashes, becomes one of the most attractive places in the city again years later. Recently, Weaving Park begins to host many events and activities. Sahaf Festival, Yeşilçam songs concerts, painting and Sculpture Competition and circumcision feast can be listed among these. The Weaving Park project is also recently honored with a grand award by the Association of Historic Cities.
