The Directorate of Religious Affairs is located adjacent to the mosque. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque is a relatively new mosque. Construction of the mosque started in 2008 and is expected to be open for worship for four years. The mosque, where traditional architectural codes are preferred, is included in a large building community. The mosque complex occupies a total area of 80 thousand square meters. The mosque was built in such a big way that a total of 6 thousand people could worship here at the same time. In fact, the capacity increases to over 20 thousand with the courtyard section during funeral prayers.
The main dome of the Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque is 33 meters in diameter. In this sense it has the largest dome diameter in Turkey. The mosque, which has been carefully worked out for the details of its construction, has a very modern architecture. Since it does not have a historical quality, it is more about itself with its capacity and architectural details. Some technological systems in shopping malls are adapted here. For example, a signaling system that indicates compliance with footwear is included. In the same place, ventilation system is integrated to prevent the smell created by shoes. Such technological moves make Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque privileged.
Many details are also given in order to provide convenient transportation for individuals without disabilities. The mosque has a powerful lighting and sound system. In lighting design, especially the details that will bring the spiritual sense to the fore are immediately visible. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque welcomes a terrific crowd on Friday. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki, named after the mosque, was the head of Religious Affairs at one time.
