How about a short trip in time? Imagine that we were in the 9th century bc... In Mesopotamia, our steps are arching the territories of Urartu, which ruled for centuries... And there it is! With its 2,700-year history, it's as if it's challenging time. The capital of the world's first castle, Van Castle. Let’s see about a castle as a capital.
Kingdom of Urartu; Hundreds of years of domination in mesopotamia territory. They usually determine their capital not by parts of land, but with castles. King Sarduri I of urartu, which reigns in and around where the city of Van is today, builds Van Castle from cut stone. The 15-year castle is declared the capital of the country when it is completed. The castle is called 'Tuşba', which means 'Very sunny area'.
Towards the end of the 20th century, many more structures were unearthed with the castle during the excavations initiated by the professors of Istanbul University Faculty of Literature. Ana-Kız Open Air Sanctuary, Sardur (Madir) Burcu, rock tombs of Menua and I. Argis and Sarduri II are just the main ones.
The inspiration of Van Castle, which has witnessed thousands of years of history, in Mesopotamia and the Kenan Region just below it, is seen comfortably with the naked eye even today.
