Devil's Bridge

The bridge, which is estimated to have been built in the late 1800s or early 1900s in Muradiye district of Van, is called the 'Devil's Bridge' as a result of the spread of a rumor in the focus of 'Misfortune' from ear to ear for decades. The bridge has a narrow and dangerous architecture in general. Although rumor has that the bridge was not conducive,a very large wedding procession wants to pass over it. While passing, several people from the convoy fell into the canyon and died. It is claimed that different tragic events occurred in the future on the bridge, which began to be famous with this story... For example, over the years, many people have been known to have fallen off the bridge. It is also said that bigger and smaller animals jump down from time to time. Located close to Muradiye-Çaldıran Road, 7 km from the center of the district, the historical bridge sits on the cliffs on bendimahi river, which flows into Lake Van. The Devil's Bridge, which was established to provide transportation between the surrounding villages and Muradiye; It has a length of 15.5 meters and a width of 3.5 meters. The bridge, which is about 18 meters in height; single arched, the road before the arrangement works, was made with cut and rubble stone. In recent years, surface has been asphalted to increase its durability and has been recorded as a comprehensive process. The Devil's Bridge, which welcomes many local and foreign tourists every year, is also famous for its views.
