St. John's Church, also known as Sotha Church, which has a quite large territory, located in Trabzon, which has been home to many civilizations for centuries. This historical building, located in The Hızırbey Neighborhood of Trabzon, is known to have been built in 1306 BC. The church, built by Theodora Tzanichites and Gregory Kamachenos, features a basilica-type architectural shape. It’s included in the sources that St. John's Church was renovated by the Metropolitan Constantinos to it’s original state in 1856. Located adjacent to Kuledibi Primary School, this historic building has a very close resemblance to the Hagia Sophia and St. Eugenios Churches, among other important churches in Trabzon. St. John's Church, which has doors in the north, south and west, welcomes its visitors from all directions. The structure with thick, stone walls has three naves. The dome covering the main area is carried by four elephant-feet and supported by pendentives. In illuminating the inside of the historic structure, the 12 windows that open to the walls of the dome frame play a big role. St. John's Church; After the conquest of Trabzon, also after The Christians migrated, opened to worship as a mosque for a while. The structure, which also operated as a military warehouse, is currently being used as an extension of Kuledibi Primary School.

Bu kilise, Karadeniz'in Sothka semtinde yer alır ve Ayasofya Kilisesi ile komşudur. Ancak bunun yakınında inşa edilen birçok bina, denizi göremiyor.
