Kaymaklı (Amenapırgic) Monastery, one of the most important buildings left over from the Trabzon Empire, has been of great importance for the Armenian population of the city for centuries.
Kaymaklı (Amenapırgic) Monastery is located in the direction overlooking The Boztepe Milldere Valley of Trabzon. The monastery, built in 1424, was considered the number one place of worship for Armenians living in Trabzon at the time. The monastery, which is used for worship of countless Armenian citizens until the 20th century from its construction, also undergoes restoration many times so that it does not succumb to time. The last of all these restorations, which were carried out with staying true to the original, was done in the 18th century.
In 1915, armenians were isolated from Turkish territory. Armenians who leave Trabzon also seal the door of the monastery, so to speak, and the structure have not been used since then. Kaymaklı (Amenapırgic) Monastery, which has a very important place in terms of religious tourism in Trabzon, has been protected by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in recent years. Today, the structure, which is frequented by many local and foreign tourists, is an indispensable point for photography enthusiasts in terms of its historical and religious texture, as well as the incredibly beautiful background in photos.
