Urgup Museum

Cultural and archaeological artifacts collected in 1965 at urgup District Public Library are exhibited in the museum building, which was completed in 1971 as a result of the need in the region. In the museum, which welcomes visitors with a very sophisticated look dedicated to ancient buildings, the interior is extremely simple. With many works on display in the showcase, various vehicles for production, such as the carpet counter semantics on the open, can also be seen at various points. Various ceramics from the prehistoric period, which dates back 10,000 years, from the B.C. to the vicinity of urgup; The region includes hittite, phrygian, Roman and Byzantine empire-era items, pot-snatched from terracotta, medals, coins, sculptures and many more cultural elements. The museum also attracts water-related fossils related to the region, formerly an inland sea, in the museum, which includes fossils of mammoths, an extinct animal species dating back 10 million years. Seljuk and Ottoman ethnographic pieces stand out within the scope of the museum, which has a rich collection. Handcrafts, clothes, ornaments, various weapons, seals, weavings, manuscript books, edicts, lamps, hookahs can be examined closely. The museum has different visiting hours in two periods: summer and winter, and the closing is 19:00 in the summer months when the intensity increases. Located in the city center of Nevsehir, the museum awaits all cultural and history enthusiasts from 7 to 70.
