Bodrum, the tourism-identified town of Muğla in Turkey, is home to an interesting museum. Bodrum Maritime Museum, where the emphasis on the ‘sea ' is the sine qua non of the district is blended into many items unique to the region, awaits all those interested in socio-cultural features.
The adventure which began with Bodrum-type boats first exhibited in a tent in Bodrum Yacht Festival in 2020 continued with the allocation of a historic building in the center of the district for museum purposes with public efforts on the interest it saw. Bodrum Maritime Museum, opened in the fall of 2011,from this date, offers a rich collection of ‘Bodrum type’ boats, one of the symbols of the district. Nearly 50 boats, all built by Ali Kemal Denizaslanı, are on display in the museum.
The upper floor of the museum, which offers a visual feast on the sea, is one of the few examples in its area. Especially the kids love this floor. Because under the name of Hasan Güleşçi Seashells Collection, close to 6 thousand seashells can be seen in different species compiled from different regions of the world.
Bodrum Naval Museum, located on Nazım Hikmet Sokak in the bazaar quarter, is waiting for guests who are passionate about the sea.
