27.02.2024 17:51
Mardin Historical Post Office Building, known as the 7th most beautiful post office to see in the world, bears the signature of Armenian Architect Sorkis Lole. Built by the Shahtana family in 1890, the building sums up Mardin's identity in an exquisite way with its architecture.
The building, which was used by the Shahtana family for 60 years, was used as a post office building as of 1950. Although part of the building, which is eye-catching with rich and magnificent stonework opposite The Martyriye Mosque, is now used by PTT, a large part of it operates as a social facility and application hotel by Mardin Artuklu University.
The general structure of the historic Post Office building is in the form of a large mansion. The building, which is seen in many houses in Mardin and opens on both sides with stairs, welcomes the guests.
