Hatuniye Madrasah

Hatuniye Madrasah, one of the 12th century Artuklu works, which is used as a mosque today, dazzles with its fine handcrafted decorations. The madrasah, built by Sitti Raziyye, mother of Kutbüddin Ilgazi, The Ruler of the Artuklu State, which ruled Mardin for many years, is one of the most beautiful examples of Artuklu architectural heritage. Hatuniye Madrasah, which has an important place in the history of architecture and art, has managed to deliver the fine handcrafted decorations, especially in the iwan and tomb sections, to this day. It is not allowed to succumb to time Hatuniye Madrasah, therefore has undergone many repairs and restorations from the past to the present. Thus, it bears traces from almost every civilization of Mardin, which has hosted numerous cultures.
