Charming (Bilali) Village

The Charming (Bilali) Village has been known as the place where fertility reaches Anatolia for thousands of years. Although the founding year of Mardin, located in the northern Mesopotamia region, is not fully known, the transition to settled life dates back to 4500 BC. The people are mainly live on by agriculture. The Village of Bilali, which attracts thousands of tourists every year with its harvest time festivals, is one of the most beautiful promenade areas of the city. The people of The Charming Village, formerly bilali, have been organizing festivals at every harvest time since thousands of years ago. After these festivities where the food is distributed, prayed and plenty of fun is enjoyed, the harvest begins in all mesopotamia. The Charming (Bilali) Village, which is considered the starting point of the harvest, has been continuing the festive tradition for 8000 years. There is a hill just across the village. On this hill, called The Yellow Barley Visit, this hill is filled with those who come to sacrifice every year to make harvests productive on the first weekend of May. For thousands of years, the people who have the rituals where meals made from the sacrifised animals are eaten and prayed and entertained a lot, are also inundated by local and foreign tourists.
