Karatay Museum

Karatay Madrasah, one of the Seljuk-era madrasas in Konya, which bears traces of Anatolia's cultural symbols all over it, was repaired in 1955 and turned into a tile museum. The museum, one of the city's touristic leading routes, is worth treasure for those who are curious about Anatolian tile art. Within the scope of the museum, seljuk era wall tiles, Seljuk Mansion tiles, tile pots, Kubad-abad Palace tiles and Principality and Ottoman tiles can be seen. Among the Seljuk wall tiles in the museum, which promises a unique visual elegance, the tiles belonging to Nizamiye Madrasah in Konya stand out. Seljuk Mansion tiles include unique gold gilded, glazed works discovered in Konya in 1941 with archaeological studies. Kitchen utensils such as tile plates, jugs, housewares, plates and bowls can be seen. The most valuable works in the museum are undoubtedly the tiles of The Kubad-abad Palace. The numerous tiles found with archaeological works are on display at Karatay Madrasah Museum in Kubad-abad, the general name of the palaces built near Beyşehir Lake, influenced by the views by Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat I. These tiles are among the most valuable examples of Turkish art, especially in terms of the richness of their figures.
