The building, which is eye-catching with its glorious architecture, is also one of the leading archaeological museums in Turkey with its rich collection.
Kastamonu Archaeological Museum is located in the building, which was planned by Architect Kemaleddin Bey, the pioneer of National Architecture, in 1917. The site, which was used as a warehouse of historical artifacts in 1945, officially began to serve as a museum in 1951.
Kastamonu Archaeological Museum consists of three main sections. These are; The Stone Art collection department the hat Revolution Department of HeadTeacher Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and the Byzantine Ruins Section, which was excavated during archaeological excavations in Kastamonu.
The part of the Museum's Hat Revolution section, which contains 32,904 works, is of great interest. In addition, the statue of Satry, which is on display with sarcophagus and the jewels inside, is among the most interesting pieces of visitors to the museum.
The artifacts in the archaeological ruins of the museum are placed in chronological order. The bull-headed metal containers found in the excavations of Devrekani Kink and the helmet with the hittite period, which is known to be used in religious rituals, are the head of the works that must be seen. The collection's dish, decorated with hieroglyphic text, is exhibited as the only example from the Hittite period and found in Anatolia.
