Martyr Sharife Bacı and Martyrs Monument

Kastamonu was undoubtedly the most important province that paved the way for our country to gain an advantage in logistics activities in the War of Independence. This monument, which is especially the epic sacrifice of Martyr Sharife Bacı, who was killed while protecting the 340 km istiklal road line starting from Inebolu and extending to Ankara, is one of the greatest examples of the sacrifice of Turkish women... Sharife Bacı, one of the most important national heroes of our country, died during the War of Independence. This monument was gifted to Serife Baci who were trying to protect the ammunition entrusted to her even in the snowstorm and all the martyrs with her... Sharife Bacı froze to death on the front line to protect the bullets and his child on his back in December, when the harsh winter conditions of 1921 took place. This monument, signed by Prof. Dr. Sculptor Tankut Öktem, was built between 1985 and 1990 and opened on July 30, 1990. The total height of The Martyr Sharife Bacı and Martyrs Monument, which is exhibited in the largest square of the province, is 12 meters.
