One of the biggest landmarks of Kastamonu is its inns that are still in use. Ashireefendi (Tether) Inn, which is the most visited area of these inns, is one of the most popular shopping places in the city.
It extends to hittites, the history of Kastamonu... Many historical structures of Kastamonu, which are the places that remain as Turkish territory for the longest period in its thousands of years of history, are still used. The most well-known of the inns here is The Inn of Ashireefendi (Tether). Located right next to the Nasrullah Mosque, which has the most visitors in the city, the inn is a shopping spot in the center of the city dating back hundreds of years.
The inn, which was started to build in 1748 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Reisül Küttap) Haji Mustafa Efendi, is completed by his son Ahir Efendi when the minister dies it takes the name of Aşirefendi Inn. Although the inn, where the tether (thick yarn) trade was first made, was popularly referred to as Tether Inn, it now houses many shops from its tailor to cafeteria, from its beads makers to florist.
The inn, which is part of daily life in Kastamonu, is where it meets a large part of the needs of the people. The building, which belongs to the Ottoman classical architectural period, is also the first among the city's most visited regional venues.
