Tigran Honents Church

Ani Ören Place, a full treasure chest that has been defiant for centuries, is one of the focal points in the tourism area of Kars, the historic city in eastern Turkey. Tigran Honents Church, dating back to 1215 and surviving quite well, stands out with its characteristic details. It's built by Tigran Honents, a wealthy merchant. The cross-shaped plan features interiors and semi-circular rooms carrying the dome with columns. Animal figures on the roof, frescoes on the inside and other sundial slates on the eastern front. The church, which is a relatively well-conditioned jesus drawing and especially the intensive visits of foreign tourists, is among the most important historical structures of Kars.
