Micingirt Vault Castle

The definition of pearl of the east for Kars is very accurate... The city, which has a unique cultural mosaic meaning for a large segment, has maintained its importance throughout history. The fact that the city is located on important trade routes in the Middle Ages has made the dynamic of military power in the region a priority for centuries. Built in this direction more than a thousand years ago, The Castle of Micingirt Vault is located on a steep cliff and the first date of construction extends to Roman domination according to estimates. Governor is mentioned in the records that Sultan Mansur Ergin strengthened and repaired the castle. As part of its active use, The Micingirt Vault Castle changes hands once again with Kars and its surroundings, which finally join the borders of the Ottoman Empire. Evliya Çelebi, one of the 17th-century travellers, speaks of Micingirt Vault Castle in his work Travel Book. It states that there are about 200 households within the castle and 150 soldiers have been deployed. The historical castle, which has been reached as destroyed columns to the present day, takes the same name as the vault built during the Saltuklu period, and the following centuries continue to be called Micingirt Vault Castle.
