Veteran Ahmet Muhtar Pasha Culture House, which was also used as a headquarters during the Ottoman-Russian War (93 Harbi), is one of the most magnificent examples of the civil architectural style in Kars.
Built by Veteran Ahmet Muhtar Pasha, who was Army Commander during the Ottoman-Russian War, which took place exactly 143 years ago, the building is one of the symbols of the city of Kars. The mansion, which was also used as a headquarters by the war time Pasha for a while, is also one of the most important ottoman civilian architecture.
The mansion, which was built in the first quarter of the 19th century, fills the eye with its large balcony in the south direction at first glance. Veteran Ahmet Muhtar Pasha Culture House, which has a very remarkable appearance, also feels an abstract singularity with its two-storey detached structure.
Veteran Ahmet Muhtar Pasha Culture House was restored according to its original in 2001 by Kars Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism. The building, which was converted into an art gallery after restoration, is one of the indispensable spaces of exhibitions in Kars.
