Making masks are beautiful adaptations that can be defined in the form of faces. It is worn on the face to reflect any subject or person it contains. It kind of amplifies the expression in a theatrical way. It can also be used for concealment.
The region of imagination in the brain is called the prefrontal cortex. There are very close relationships between the mask and the prefrontal cortex. The mask culture, whose origins go very deep for human beings, witnessed unique examples for the Anatolian geography. It is known to be used in religious rituals as well as ceremonies based on the strengthening of depiction on a subject.
Of course, masks stand out in the way they reflect various expressions. The boy who wears a Tarzan mask is Tarzan in his game now. Masks are colorful icons.
Within this scope, The Masque Museum in Izmir is one of the few cultural places to be found. It hosts over 300 masks.
The museum, which opened in 2011 in a historic building in Alsancak district, Konak district, exhibits in different categories.
Ritual, Theater, Anatolia, death masks and the masks in the form of trail can be seen in the categories.
Mask workshops for various age groups are held in the museum, which is also the scene of the events. There are also interviews open to general participation and presentations on different topics.
