Zuhurat Baba quarter is known for its large number of green areas in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul. It houses an old shrine where Zuhurat Baba's mausoleum, known for its mystical rumor that has been passed down by word of mouth for generations, exists, and his name is given to the neighborhood in which it is located.
It is rumored that a young man named Zuhurat Baba distributed drinking water to Ottoman soldiers who were having trouble since the Byzantine Empire poisoned the water resources during the conquest of Istanbul in 1453; however, the water in his water pump never lessened. It is said that the commanders had seen a sea when they looked inside his water pump, and his name was not found on the officer's list. After the conquest, Zuhurat Baba was found dead by the soldiers in the place of his mausoleum today. A grave is opened and Zuhurat Baba is buried accompanied by prayers. Here is the Shrine of Zuhurat Baba, as one of the city's holy places from this date, constantly undergoes an influx of visitors.
Located in a large and tree-lined area surrounded by green bar fence, the mausoleum has a simple interior. The shrine, where people serve something around and the intensity increases, especially on Fridays, is closed in the evening and can be visited within certain hours. Zuhurat Baba shrine is located close to Bakırköy Square, on a busy street from where you can easily access the coastline and surrounding points such as Yeşilköy, Şirinevler, and Ataköy. It is also within walking distance of Bakırköy Cumhuriyet Square.
