It is a corporate history museum where information and memories regarding the economic, social and institutional development of İş Bankası from its establishment to the present are brought together, preserved and shared with the public.
Yenicami Branch was chosen to host the history of İş Bankası, which was established in 1924 as the first bank of the Republic of Turkey upon the directive of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The building, which was built as the Istanbul Post Office on September 23, 1892, began to serve as the Istanbul Branch of Türkiye İş Bankası on February 20, 1928 and the name of the branch was changed to Yenicami Branch in the 1950s. It served in this way until 2004 and after the restoration process, it began to reflect the story of the establishment and development of our country as a museum. When you stand in front of the door of the building, which was built as a post office building in 1890 and look carefully, you can see the traces of the architecture of the period.
The museum, which is one of the witnesses of the history of the Republic, is open to visitors all year round with its building where exhibitions continue actively on all 3 floors. Starting from the first hall on the upper floor and continuing through eight halls, this building features a permanent exhibition that chronicles the history of İş Bankası in chronological order. Documents and photographs reflecting social and economic life from the bank's rich archive, banking instruments such as typewriters and calculators from different periods, piggy banks, promotional materials, and advertising films, as well as bank-specific materials, are exhibited on the first floor of the museum. On the ground floor and basement floors, you can visit the historical bank counters, main vault, and safe deposit boxes from the branch period.
You can also visit the main vault, which we only see in movies and where very few authorized people can enter, and the safe deposit box, which is open to customer use, in the museum. There is a moving installation consisting of lights and sounds in the corridor connecting these two vaults.
