Siyavuş Paşa Pavilion (Havuzlu Köşk-Mansion with Pool)

Siyavuş Paşa Pavilion is located in Siyavuşpaşa, one of the boroughs in Bahçelievler district of Istanbul. Siyavuş Paşa who was a statesman assigned as Governor, Grand Vizier also gave his name to the district, and this is the pavilion who lived in for many years. Today it is within the Milli Egemenlik Park.

Although not clear, available information on the date of construction indicates that it was built during the last quarter of the 16th century. Due to its style, details, and general characteristics, it is emphasized that it may have been built by Mimar Sinan, the famous Ottoman chief architect of his era.

Siyavuş Paşa Pavilion, which strongly reflects the emphasis on Ottoman civil architecture, is also called ’Havuzlu Köşk - Mansion with pool'. The pool in front of it is also the subject of an interesting event because while the head of the statesman in question was being kept in the water to be killed by torture upon the decree of the Sultan, the decision was withdrawn, and Siyavuş Paşa started to undertake important duties within the state and began to live in this pavilion. The famous pavilion, which was almost the grave of Siyavuş Paşa but then became the home where he lived his life can be visited in Bahçelievler. His grave is in Eyüp Sultan.

The structure, which remained dormant for a long time, was restored after an extensive restoration process initiated by the Istanbul governorship in 2016. Today, the historic building is the scene of artistic events and adds value to the region's skyline.
