Rüstem Pasha Mosque

Eminönü is one of the most famous districts of Fatih district with its interesting spiritual-cultural sightseeing and shopping opportunities. Rüstem Pasha Mosque, which is a few hundred meters away on foot from the Spice Bazaar, is one of the prominent historical values.

The mosque, which rises among the busy warehouses and shops, is another work of Mimar Sinan in the city. It was built by Rüstem Pasha, who was the grand vizier of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. The mosque stands out with its striking decorations and beautiful Iznik tiles. Abstract shapes and floral motifs can be enjoyed all around the mosque, whose dome is supported by four filaments, or giant columns. Rüstem Pasha Mosque, which has a kind of a riot of colors, is also known for its tiles on the mezzanines.
