Reisülküttap İsmail Efendi Fountain

Reisülküttap İsmail Efendi Fountain, whose reservoir is in the courtyard, is in Galata sub-district in Beyoğlu district, Istanbul. It is located outside the courtyard door of Kemankeş Kara Mustafa Mosque.

The mirror stone covered with floral motifs at the bottom of the hand fan-like arch of the fountain, which is a very important structure in terms of decoration and attracts great attention, is remarkable. The fountain, which is quite solid and in good condition, is considered one of the best water structures in the city.

It is decorated with 'celi' thuluth, which is the name given to the coarse written form of any type of writing in the art of calligraphy, that is, with remarkable writing. The inscription "La ilaha illallah Muhammed rasul-u'llah" on the arch voids filled with fine carvings is a very good example of writing. The fruit motifs in this writing also attract the attention of visitors.

The appearance of the mosque, which resembles the mihrab section where the imam stands in front of the congregation while praying, is among the features that make the fountain different and impressive.
