Madame Tussauds brand, the world's most famous "Wax Sculpture Museum" with its 250-year history and visited by millions of visitors, said hello to Istanbul residents with its 21st branch in November 2016. The museum, which brings together the figures of world stars with enthusiasts in 24 different cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong, New York, Sydney and Tokyo, is located in the historical Grand Pera building on Istiklal Street in Beyoğlu district.
The museum was founded by the sculptor Marie Tussaud (1761-1850), who learned to make sculptures from a famous wax artist in France at an age that could be considered as a child, and who went to England with his works as his successor in the following years. The artist, who made sculptures of important figures of the period such as royals and politicians upon request and who made them to be seen by the public excursively, exhibited his highly anticipated and highly popular works in London for the first time.
The museum provides opportunity to establish close contact with real-like figures of famous stars and famous people who have left their trace on the world of history, culture, art, sports and politics such as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Mevlana, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Zeki Müren, Barış Manço, Adile Naşit, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt can be visited between 10:00 and 20:00 every day of the week.
