Arakiyeci Hacı Cafer Mosque is on the Anatolian Side of Istanbul; It is located in Üsküdar District, around Zeynep Kamil Hospital, where the streets of Tuesday and Divitçiler meet.
Although Zeynep Kamil Primary School is located right across the mosque, there used to be Avnizade Kadiri Lodge and Kethüda Mehmet Ağa's fountain dated 1729 in front of this lodge.
Arakiyeci Hacı Cafer Mosque was originally built on the site of the Kazasker (Divitçiler) Mosque. The masjid of the Kazasker (Divitçiler) Mosque was built by Muallimzade Kazasker Ahmet Efendi. He was born in Bursa in 1505 and after completing his education, he taught at many madrasahs. On the other hand, he received the titles of Mudarri of Rhodes Sultanisi in 1551, Anatolian in 1567 and Rumeli Kazaskeri in June of the same year. He retired in 1572 and died in July 1572.
Today, instead of Kazasker (Divitçiler) Mosque, which was built by Muallimzade Kazasker Ahmet Efendi, there is Arakiyeci Hacı Cafer Mosque. This holy place of worship, which was originally built only as a mosque, was renovated 68 years after its construction. Then in 1760 Sultan III. During the reign of Mustafa, the building was converted into a mosque by adding a pulpit. The place of worship, which has reached its present status with the repair and restoration works it has undergone in the following years, is still known as the Divitçiler Mosque among the people.
