Kanlıca İskender Pasha Mosque and Tomb is in Beykoz district on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. It is adjacent to the square in front of Kanlıca Pier and has a central location.
Mosque and tomb parts, which are parts of a complex, were built in 1560 by Gazi Iskender Pasha, one of the leading soldiers of the 16th century. The mosque part is also known as Kanlıca Mosque by the residents of the district. It is recorded that it was repaired in the 1800s, 1910, 1926, and 1942. It is also known that it was damaged as a result of road expansion works in 1925.
It is a roofed mosque. It consists of a sanctuary and the last congregation place and has a masonry structure. This may be one of the reasons why it did not suffer severe damage and fire during the Ottoman period. It is an elegant structure that points to the classical style with its details and symmetry. Fine workmanship stands out.
Kanlıca İskender Paşa Tomb, which has a rectangular plan, lead-covered wooden roof, and masonry walls, is located on the north side of the mosque. It has three windows on two sides and four and five windows on the other. The marble sarcophagi on the graves of İskender Pasha and his son in Kanlıca İskender Pasha Mosque and Tomb, which is obvious to have an unusual architecture with many features, stand out.
