Kagithane Open Air Museum

The Open Air Museum, located in the Kagithane district of Istanbul, contains a total of 141 historical artifacts. These historical artifacts, recorded in exactly 80 inventory documents, shed light on the cultural and historical past of Istanbul. Each of the historical artifacts belonging to the Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman periods and exhibited in the Kagithane Open Air Museum brings to light the uncertainties of different periods.

The fact that the arrangement and delimitation of the landscape and historical artifacts have been carried out successfully under the leadership of the Kagithane Municipality ensures that the Open Air Museum is attracted by thousands of local and foreign visitors every year. It is also worth noting the information that the Ministry of Culture registered it in March 2007 and recorded it in the Istanbul Archeology Museums Directorate's Inventory.

Kagithane Open Air Museum, which has numerous invaluable artifacts ranging from columns of beautiful historical palaces to fountain inscriptions and building fragments, from tombstones, tomb lids, and marble cascades of the Sadabad waterfalls to the aiming stones with historical information, has contributed greatly to the historical awareness in the region.

Pieces that are too small to be exhibited in the Kagithane Open Air Museum located in the park opposite the main building of Kagithane Municipality are in the windows of the Main Entrance of the Municipality Building. Kagithane Open Air Museum, which is a project where the history and historical texture of the district is practically realized, is home to the best examples of the 600-year Ottoman reign.
