Istanbul Radio House

Istanbul Radio House, located in Istanbul Sisli district, Harbiye district; It was built in 1945 to meet the studio needs of Istanbul Radio, which started its first scheduled radio broadcast on May 6, 1927.
In order to select the architect of the building, a project competition is held first. The joint project of Doğan Erginbaş, Ömer Güney and İsmail Utkular is selected in the competition. Thus, in November 1945, the foundations of the radio house were laid and construction began in its current form.
Istanbul Radio House, which has a basement plus four floors and has been used as a radio house since its construction, started to serve on 19 November 1949 with the ceremony inaugurated by the then President İsmet İnönü.
Located on Cumhuriyet Caddesi in Harbiye district, Istanbul Radio House is among the landmarks not only of Harbiye, but also of Şişli and Beyoğlu districts. In order to supply electricity to the building, which is still in a very good condition today, there is a transformer center, heating and ventilation facilities, main distribution board, warehouses and workshops.
The ground floor and first floor of the building are studios; it is reserved for record and film receiving units and program service offices. On the other hand, on the other floors of the building, there are main command and control offices, as well as technical and administrative service offices.
Finally, let us state that the Istanbul Radio House has a total volume of 5,30 cubic meters, technical facilities suitable for even large symphonic orchestras of 100 people, and there are 13 active studios in total.
