The Nişancı Feridun Ahmet Paşa Shrine is located within the borders of Eyüp Sultan. There is the tomb of Feridun Ahmet Paşa, one of the important statesmen of the Ottoman. This important figure lost his life in 1583. This place is also known as the Hızır Baba Shrine due to his philanthropist nature. The Feridun Ahmet Paşa Shrine is frequented by many locals who would like to pray and make a wish.
The shrine is located on the Baybaba Street and right opposite the Paşa Shrine. The historical shrine generally has a square layout. It was built by precisely cut stones. The structure has windows on the top and the bottom and a single small dome. The upper windows have leaded glasses. The fact that the lower windows have marble jambs gives an aesthetic value to the structure. All of the marble nets on top of them were removed with the repair works in 1945. It means that the most special and impressive part of the shrine was removed. You can see a portico carried by checkered columns on the front of the door. If you look closer at the inscription, you will see the writing “Ruhiçün Fatiha”. There is also some information about the period when the shrine was built.
The Nişancı Feridun Ahmet Paşa Shrine is adorned with hand drawn embellishments on the inside. This place has gone through a comprehensive repair lately. The tomb of Feridun Paşa is made of marble and it has a wrapped shell. The covers on the sides of the tomb have large badges. There is no writings in this section. There is another tomb for an unknown person too. Only the side stone of the tomb has survived so far. The tomb is estimated to be of his son.
