Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art

Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art, is qualified as the first modern art museum established in 2001. Especially Sevda Elgiz and Can Elgiz made important efforts in the establishment of the museum. The idea of establishing a contemporary art museum emerged as a result of lack of specific initiatives in contemporary art and foundation-style museums. The non-profit institution is established on a total area of ​​2 thousand square meters.It received great attention from the first day it was established. The first name of the museum is known as Proje4L. The museum, which has supported many young artists and curators until today, works like an active workshop.

Exhibitions continue throughout the year at the Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art. On the other hand, creative activities are always organized in order to bring contemporary art to a universal dimension. The main purpose of the museum is to capture the dynamics and up-to-dateness of contemporary art. In this context, importance to social programs is attached for various groups. As a matter of fact, a significant majority of these independent initiatives manage to resound. The Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art, interpreted as a "hidden treasure", can be visited between 10.00 and 17.00 on Tuesday and Friday. On Saturday, it can be visited until 16:00.

In 2013, Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art was deemed worthy of an important award by IFEMA ARCO Madrid. The museum which was rewarded with International Collector's Award, proudly represent Turkey in the field of museology. Just one year after that, the museum was rewarded with a similar award from the Contemporary Arts Foundation. Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art is also among the founding members of the Global Private Museum Network. Visiting the museum is completely free of charge.
