Located in Üsküdar district on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, Çinili Children's Library is among the best-known children's libraries in Turkey.
This library was originally built as a madrasah in 1640 for Ahmet I's wife, Mahpeyker Kösem Sultan. The architect of the building is Mimar Sinan, who has a very important place not only in the history of Ottoman architecture, but also in the history of architecture all over the world.
The building, which was under the General Directorate of Foundations until a short time ago, started to serve as the Çinili Children's Library in 1966. The library, which has a very modest structure with a single hall of only 45 square meters in total, has a domed roof. Today, it continues to serve under the Üsküdar Municipality.
The library is one of the most popular spots in Üsküdar. It is frequently visited, especially by students from the surrounding schools. On the other hand, according to the 2005 inventory count, it was determined that the library hosted 4,641 books.
