Known as Güzelcehisar in "Aşıkpaşazade and Neşri," one of the old Ottoman sources, the Anatolian Fortress was built to control the Bosphorus passage at that time. Anadolu Fortress Namazgah, located in front of the Anatolian Fortress in Anatolian Fortress neighborhood within the Beykoz district of Istanbul, was one of the first settlements of Turks who came from Anatolia to conquer Istanbul.

The Anatolian Fortress Namazgah, which is repaired by Beykoz Municipality every year and made ready for worship, has a perfect location adjacent to the Anatolian Fortress Castle built by Yıldırım Beyazıt for the conquest of Istanbul. This building, also known as the Historical Anatolian Namazgah, as Mayor Yücel Çelikbilek stated: "Anatolian Fortress Namazgah is a significant cultural and civilization heritage for us."

Namazgah, as a word, means a place of worship built for praying in the open air. Namazgahs are usually established in cities and their immediate surroundings to serve during the summer months. One of the oldest among them is the Anatolian Fortress Namazgah. Namazgahs used to be built in places where passengers on the move could rest, and people also perform their tarawih prayers, eid prayers, and Friday prayers during Ramadan in these places.

In Anadolu Hisarı Namazgahı, which is surrounded by walls, there is a stone pulpit and a pillar stone with a mihrab showing qibla's direction. The stone of the Anatolian Fortress Namazgahı, which was built with cut stones, has an orderly appearance, is arranged with a magnificent niche. According to Aşıkpaşazade, the Namazgah was built in 1390, and according to Mehmed Pasha, it was built in 1394.
