Ali Pertek Mosque, which has an excellent location at the intersection of Arpacı Çeşmesi Street and Baltalimanı Hisar Street in Istanbul Rumeli Fortress; is also called "Ali Pertev Mosque". Next to this modest mosque, overlooking the unique view of the Bosphorus, is the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and the Yusuf Ziya Pasha Mansion, known as the "Haunted House". The graves of Pertev Ali Efendi and his family are located in the courtyard of the Ali Pertek Mosque which got built in 1715 by Pertev Ali Efendi, who had the nickname Pertek and served as a Pasha in the Ottoman Navy.
Although the mosque, which is built entirely of brick and rubble stone, is surrounded by high walls, there is a narrow passage of approximately 70 cm between these walls. The first thing you will encounter after the passage is a fountain with spectacular details.
Although it is not considered important as a touristic destination due to the lack of decoration and a plain structure in the interior of the mosque, some details distinguish the mosque from other Ottoman mosques. The lectern and pulpit of Ali Pertek Mosque, which makes a difference with the windows on the upper part with red, green, blue and yellow stained glass, is also completely made of wood.
Ali Pertek Mosque, which underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2009, is among the most important cultural heritage from the Ottoman period to the present day. The the number of visitors increase day by day due to the nearby Rumeli Fortress, Sakıp Sabancı Museum and Bebek Mosque. You can also visit the graves of Pertev Ali Efendi and his family in Ali Pertek Mosque, which can be described as a large and bright mosque.
