The Akaretler Mustafa Kemal Museum in Beşiktaş, one of the most crowded and central districts of Istanbul, is the first house in Beşiktaş Akaretler, where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk rented and stayed for a while. The Akaretler Mustafa Kemal Museum, which was converted into a museum by the General Directorate of Foundations as a "museum house", hosts some of Atatürk's personal belongings.
This three-storey house, where Atatürk's sister Makbule Atadan, his adopted son Abdurrahim Tunçak and his mother Zübeyde Hanım resided as tenants, has a total usage area of 540 square meters. Today, Akaretler Mustafa Kemal Museum, which welcomes its visitors as a museum house, was designed with graphical and digital elements. In addition, the cinevision shows on the themes of national struggle and migration are definitely worth seeing.
Akaretler Mustafa Kemal Museum, where domestic utensils such as the rugs belonging to Atatürk's mother Zübeyde Hanım and the armchair used by Atatürk are exhibited, underwent a restoration that took about two years to regain its present state. Another detail that makes this house special is that it is the first example of a housing estate constructed at monumental level supported by palace.
The house, which has been rented by some institutions and artists since the day it was restored, is the place where Atatürk met the famous linguist Ferdinand Saussure and put forward ideas about the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, which he had later laid the foundations.
