Museum of the Princes' Islands is the first contemporary city museum of Istanbul. The mission of the Museum of the Princes' Islands, where exactly 20 thousand documents, countless documentation shootings, 6 thousand photographs, oral historical records and films are presented to the visitors, is to ensure that the historical, cultural and natural riches of Adalar (Islands) are introduced to everyone.
The Museum of the Princes' Islands, which hosts the Ottoman document archive focusing on the urban history of Adalar, bears the traces of a rich and colorful cultural heritage of thousands of years. This important museum of Adalar, which is one of the districts where municipal services come first in Istanbul, also includes works that provide information about the cultures of different geographies.
Museum of the Princes' Islands, located within the borders of Buyukada in the Adalar district of Istanbul, is situated in Aya Nikola Locality. The Museum of the Princes' Islands, which is among the most visited museums in the city in the category of "City Museum", has been welcoming its visitors since September 10, 2010.
The founder of the Museum of the Princes' Islands is Adalar Foundation (affiliated to the Municipality of Adalar), the director of the museum is Halim Bulutoğlu and the curator is Deniz Koç and it is located in the southern part of Büyükada. The Museum of the Princes' Islands, established in the Aya Nikola region, known as one of the oldest settlements on the island, brings all the cultural and natural beauties of Adalar to light.
In addition to its basic mission, attracting attention towards Prince Islands is among the goals of the Museum of the Princes' Islands and it is also one of the most visited places in Büyükada, which is the largest island of Adalar in terms of population and area.
Some of the categories of the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of the Princes' Islands, which has a total of two different exhibition venues, namely the Çınar Museum Area (open air exhibitions) and the Aya Nikola Hangar Museum Area (permanent exhibition) in Büyükada, are as follows: Chronology, Prince Islands in 10 minutes, Nature of Adalar, First Settlements, Sports, Music, Islanders, Sounds of Adalar and Future Scenarios.
