The place, which houses The Hasan Süzer Ethnography Museum in Bey quarter, is essentially a very old Gaziantep House. This gives the museum a very different air and aesthetic. It is possible to find similar houses in Hanifioğlu Street, the Bey neighborhood in which it is located. The Hasan Süzer Ethnography Museum, which draws attention both for its richness and architectural beauty, reflects Gaziantep's history and culture at an important level. This private house was expropriated in the early 1900s and taken over by the Ministry of Culture. Although it remains in a dilapidated state for a long time, it is ultimately considered as a museum. Codes about the traditional life of the people in Gaziantep are given here in stunning fashion with mannequins. The building, which has three floors in total, draws attention to the cellar carved into the rock. Two of the floors lead directly to the main road and the other to the neighborhood. There are many processes on the large main door. When you throw yourself through this door, you come across an area called ‘Life’. If you try to enter through the smaller door, you will see that the section called ‘Salamlik (the postion of a house reserved for men)’ meets you. When you visit the ground floor, you can witness embroiderie frames or wooden benches. In this section, a lot of animation is done through mannequins. Traditional pursuits such as spinning a spinning wheel or stretching silk over a gergah are preferred in this area. You can use the stairs inside the house to get to the first floor. A traditional bathhouse is located in the right section of this floor. Apart from basin of a bath and bath bowls, bone combs are also exhibited one to one. Upstairs, you can observe the traditional living rooms. Unfortunately, the closure of the Hasan Süzer Ethnography Museum is on the agenda due to financial impossibilities. The museum, which is also likely to go for restoration rather than closure, is currently closed to visitors.
