Nenehatun Historical National Park, located in the center of Erzurum, covers the area of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, which houses Erzurum Bastions of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks.
The Ottoman Erzurum defense, which lost the city of Kars during the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878, which appeared on the historical stage as 93 Harbi, is about to lose as a result of a treacherous night attack. When the news that hundreds of soldiers were killed overnight reached the public, the lost bastions would be asked to be taken back. Almost all of the people of Erzurum, especially Nene Hatun, a 20-year-old young girl, run to the bastion. They fight the Russian soldiers chest to chest and take the bastions back. Nene Hatun, who was martyred during their conflict, becomes an indication of Erzurum's people’s courage and the nobility of the Turkish woman.
Nenehatun Historical National Park covers all these bastions that have been recovered right after they are lost. Those who come to see the bastions filled with patriotic stories of Erzurum people, are greeted by Nene Hatun with a rifle in one hand and a maturity in his other hand greeting those who come. Even only one of the epic heroic struggle stories, of the Turkish people, is enough for thousands of local and foreign tourists to flock here every year.
